Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct applies to Ring Veteran and everything around it: the game, its lobby, chat, matches, trades and events, your account, the SynamicD Discord and ringveteran.com. Its purpose is to keep Ring Veteran safe, fair and fun for every player.

Your account

Ring Veteran accounts are created and managed through the SynamicD bot on the SynamicD Discord:

  • /account creates your account or gets your activation link.
  • /password-reset resets your password.
  • /recover-playbooks recovers the playbooks from your previous account.
  • /patreon-sync links your Patreon membership to your account.

The admins on the SynamicD Discord enforce this Code of Conduct and handle reports.

General rules

To keep Ring Veteran fun, fair and safe for everyone, do not:

  1. Distribute files that contain viruses, corrupted data or malicious software.
  2. Make personal attacks or behave rudely or crudely. Stalking, abuse and harassment of any kind are not tolerated.
  3. Threaten, embarrass, harass or harm another player or a staff member. This includes insulting, offensive or abusive comments about players or staff, repeatedly sending unwanted messages, and attacking a player based on race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage or similar. Joking around is fine, but there is a line between joking and harassment (see Harassment below).
  4. Create usernames, nicks or tags, or share content, that is harmful, abusive, racially or ethnically offensive, vulgar, sexually explicit, defamatory, infringing, invasive of someone's privacy or publicity rights, or objectionable in a reasonable person's view.
  5. Troll. Trolling means posts, comments or messages made to provoke strong emotional responses for amusement. Constant personal attacks also count as trolling. Accounts created only to troll are suspended indefinitely.
  6. Create an alternate account to break the rules or to avoid a punishment on your main account. These accounts are permanently banned. You may have more than one account, just not for this reason. Accounts that share characteristics with a banned account can be traced and linked, so using several accounts to break the rules puts all of them at risk of a ban.
  7. Share your login with other players. Once another player logs in to your account, the two accounts are linked. If one is banned, every linked account is banned too.
  8. Impersonate another person, such as a player or a celebrity, claim to work for SynamicD or be SynamicD staff, or suggest that you represent SynamicD's partners or affiliates.
  9. Misspell or reformat words to get past the chat filters.
  10. Post messages for anything other than communication. Advertising, promotion, chain letters, pyramid schemes and similar activities are not allowed without prior consent from SynamicD.
  11. Post or share another player's real-world personal information. First names of players you know are fine.
  12. Try to get a password, account details or other private information from another player, including trying to steal cards or break into email accounts. SynamicD staff will never ask for your password. If anyone does, report it to an admin on the SynamicD Discord.
  13. Misuse support features. Using the /staff or /admin chat commands to reach staff when you need help in game is fine. Using them for anything else is not.
  14. Interfere with, hack into or decipher traffic to or from the servers. Attempts to access or ping our servers to disrupt them are traced, and all associated accounts are banned. These attempts are also a federal crime and may be prosecuted.
  15. Exploit a bug to gain an unfair advantage. This includes telling other players about a bug instead of reporting it. Report bugs to an admin on the SynamicD Discord so they can be fixed. You could be rewarded.
  16. Share copyrighted content you do not own the rights to. Credit the source when you share press material or information from another website.
  17. Disrupt chat with vulgar language, abuse, blank lines, excessive caps, spamming or flooding (posting the same text over and over).
  18. Buy, sell or offer accounts, account contents or any item not related to SynamicD. SynamicD is not licensed for real-money transactions between players. These posts are removed and the poster is suspended indefinitely.

Breaking this Code of Conduct can get you suspended or permanently banned, depending on how often it happens and how serious it is, at the sole discretion of SynamicD staff. SynamicD may suspend, permanently ban or freeze any account belonging to a player who breaks these rules.

Harassment

Our goal is a strong community where every player feels comfortable. We all share one goal, playing Ring Veteran, so every player needs to behave.

  1. Harassment is misuse or abuse of game features, or verbal abuse, meant to distress or offend other players.
  2. Harassment is behaviour that is unpleasant, unavoidable, derogatory and aimed at you. Before reporting, try to defuse it: leave the room or ask the player to stop, and never respond in kind. If it continues, report it to an admin on the SynamicD Discord. Screenshots and chat logs help. If you have none, give the date and time and the names of the players involved. We will look into it and get it stopped.
  3. Derogatory or hateful comments that are sexual, racist or religious, or about gender or creed, are always harassment.
  4. Chat filters block certain words, mostly profanity. Formatting words to get past the filters is not tolerated. This includes using "ph" instead of "f", using "1", "l" or "!" instead of "i", putting spaces or periods between letters, and anything similar. Repeatedly dodging the filters is not tolerated.
  5. Harassing a player can lead to penalties up to and including closing the harasser's account, based on how severe the harassment is and the player's history. Staff can kick, ban, mute, take away pages and more to get the situation under control. Games and private messages are covered by this policy too.

Community guidelines

These apply to the SynamicD Discord and to chat in the game.

  1. Do not post in all caps or use excessive punctuation to draw attention to your posts.
  2. If you have a lot to say, use proper grammar. It makes everything easier to read.
  3. Political, sexual and religious topics are not allowed.
  4. Do not hijack conversations. Posts that badly disrupt the original conversation are not allowed.
  5. Do not post about deleted posts or other moderator actions. Posts in the wrong place may be moved or removed. Removed posts must not be reposted.
  6. To report a post, contact an admin on the SynamicD Discord.
  7. We may remove any post, with or without notice to the person who made it.
  8. Abuse affects everyone who enjoys this game, so we ask for your cooperation and support. Suggestions to make the community better are always welcome. Questions or concerns about this Code of Conduct can be raised with the admins on the SynamicD Discord.

Official events

  1. SynamicD runs official tournaments hosted by admins, referees and staff. The person running an event is in full control of it and is to be treated with respect. Disrespect or behaviour that disrupts a tournament can lead to a kick from the server, a temporary mute, a tournament ban, or a ban for the rest of the event.
  2. The length of a tournament ban depends on what caused it. You are told the length when you are banned. While tournament banned you cannot enter any official SynamicD tournament.
  3. Deck talking is frowned upon and can get you tournament banned, even if you are not in the event. Deck talking includes naming a specific page in your opponent's deck (Spine Buster), a move type (Head Down/HD), the turn the match ended (if early), a specific strategy (stun chain), or something your opponent did during the match (open ditch). If you deck talk, you are disqualified from the tournament immediately, and your opponent can choose to have you banned from other tournaments as well.
  4. All other rules apply during official events.

Software

  1. Ring Veteran and other software developed or distributed by SynamicD may not be sold or redistributed without SynamicD's consent.
  2. Ring Veteran and other software developed or distributed by SynamicD may not be modified in any way without SynamicD's consent.
  3. To keep content up to date and avoid clutter on your devices, SynamicD software can create, copy, modify and delete files on the devices it is installed on.

Most of these rules are common sense. They are here to keep the community active and enjoyable for a game we all love.
